Creating Special Rows

There are three special rows. Each of these impacts all rows in the template. For instance you can set the decimal places for all number template rows by using the decSetting special row.

Decimal Setting

Sets the decimal places for the entire template:

decSetting ::

The options in the list include default, float, and 0 through 10. Default shows the decimal places as designated in the other rows. decSetting special row is a short-cut for the following list if you prefer to customize it:

"Decimal Places" "L0;default;0;float;1;0;2;1;3;2;4;3;
5;4;6;5;7;6;8;7;9;8;10;9;11;10;12" decSetting ::

While decSetting is a default, you can customize this special row by modifying the full listing. For instance, if the default should be 3 decimal places instead, change the list default (which directly follows the L) from 0 to 105:

"Decimal Places" "L5;default;0;float;1;0;2;1;3;2;4;3;
5;4;6;5;7;6;8;7;9;8;10;9;11;10;12" decSetting ::

Furthermore you can shorten the list to a subset of choices:

"Decimal Places" "L5;default;0;float;1;3;5;6;8" decSetting ::

Or even change the text names:

"Decimal Places" "L5;default;0;most precise;1;least precise;5;
somewhat precise;8
" decSetting ::

Trig Mode

Sets the trig mode for the entire template:

trigMode ::

The options in the list include degrees and radians. If trigonometric functions are used but trigMode is not included the functions calculate in degrees mode.

trigMode is a shortcut for the following list:

"Trig Mode" "L0;Degrees;0;Radians;1" trigMode ::

Calendar Mode

Sets the calendar mode (day count method) for the entire template:

calMode ::

The options in the list include Actual, 30/360, Actual/360 and Actual/365:

  • Actual: actual days between dates, including leap days.
  • 30/360: 360 days per year plus 30 days per month for the remainder.
  • Actual/360: 360 days per year plus actual count for remainder.
  • Actual/365: 365 days per year plus actual count for remainder.
calMode special row is a short-cut for the following list if you prefer to customize it:

"Calendar Mode" "L0;actual;0;30/360;1;actual/360;2;actual/365;3" calMode ::

If date functions are used but calMode is not included the functions calculate with the Actual day count method.

Other Special Lists

Number Mode

Overrides the display format of numeric rows where default lets the rows be displayed according to row settings.
Notation "L0;Default;0;Normal;100;Scientific;600;Engineering;700" numMode ::

Fraction Mode

Overrides the base denominator for fractions. Default lets the rows be displayed according to row settings.
"Fraction Mode" "L0; Default;0; x;1; xx;2; xxx; 3; xxxx; 4; 2nds; 10; 4ths; 11; 8ths; 12; 16ths; 13; 32nds; 14; 64ths; 15; 10s; 20; 100ths; 21; 1000ths; 22" fracMode ::

Measurement Mode

Overrides the base denominator for fraction inches in a feet-inch number. Default lets the rows be displayed according to row settings.
"Measurement Mode" "L0; Default;0; 2nds; 1; 4ths; 2; 8ths; 3; 16ths; 4; 32nds; 5; 64ths; 6" measMode ::
